The POP Nigeria team led by POP Youth Mentor and Ambassador for Africa, Samuel C. Okorie, set in motion its climate education initiative in Bauchi State in the North-East zone of Nigeria from November 29, 2021 to December 2, 2021. The project by POP Movement was executed in partnership with Global Environmental and Climate Conservation Initiative (GECCI) and green environment promoters of the northeast zone.

The youth leaders visited five government secondary schools in Bauchi state and organized interactive sessions where students were educated about the basic indicators of climate change and their impacts. Towards the end of these sessions, nursery tree seedlings were donated to the schools and planted. This initiative sensitized over 2500 staff and students, in their mother tongue, about the impact of climate change and the mitigation efforts needed. As a follow up to this, the POP Nigeria team has aimed to establish climate education clubs in these schools to promote the awareness and practice of sustainable environmental activities.
