About: Qualitative research was undertaken to study the impact of Sargassum on human health. The study was conducted on the coast of Quintana Roo, Mexico. The target groups included local and coastal communities, tourists, non-government organizations (NGOs), and young people. In-depth and key informant interviews were conducted to assess the social, environmental, and health impacts of Sargassum. The impact of gasses (methane and hydrogen sulfide) and of other toxins on health was analyzed. The relationship between Sargassum and the occurrence of respiratory diseases, skin infections, and mental health problems in the community, among workers, and other stakeholders engaged with the management of Sargassum was examined. Vulnerability was assessed using the lens of equity, justice, and gender. The levels of awareness, knowledge, and attitudes towards Sargassum were studied. The behaviors and practices of the community, NGOs, and government regarding the removal of Sargassum were examined. The study provides evidence for designing interventions to prevent the health impacts of Sargassum. Read more>>>

About: The impact of climate change on physical, mental, and social health is profound. It is increasing exponentially and is causing considerable concern globally. Research shows that the causes and consequences of these health impacts are multidimensional, requiring multi sectoral strategies to address them. However, effective mitigation strategies have yet to be designed and implemented. Research is needed to provide evidence for developing program interventions for different populations in diverse settings. This book describes the result of research undertaken by imminent scholars who have examined several climatic issues, including rising temperatures, extreme weather conditions, and changing ecosystems. The impacts of extreme heat, drought, environmental degradation, changes in vector ecologies, water quality, and food systems are assessed. The authors describe various problems and make recommendations based on available evidence. These include the serious health effects of fungal infections, the impact of climate change on vulnerable populations such as poor mothers and children, the vital role of pollinators on food security globally, the use of solar power for health, the severe impact of environmental disasters on health, and channeling mental health of young people into climate action and activism. This book’s audience includes climate scientists, public health experts, policy-makers, program implementers, researchers, and activists. Read more>>>

About: A Global Shift to Gandhi: Earth-Shastra and Humane Arthashastra, Dr. R.K. Pachauri, a globally renowned environmental scientist and former Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), presents a thought-provoking exploration of how Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless principles can guide us through the environmental and societal crisis we face today. This groundbreaking book examines the urgent need for a radical transformation in our global approach to development. Drawing inspiration from Gandhi’s ideals of simplicity, non-violence, and equitable resource use, Dr. Pachauri introduces the concept of Earth-Shastra—a framework for sustainable living that harmonizes human progress with the preservation of the planet’s ecosystems. As environmental degradation accelerates and climate change looms, Dr. Pachauri argues that incremental changes are no longer enough. Instead, he advocates for a disruptive shift in our values and practices—a new form of capitalism that prioritizes ecological balance, social justice, and the wellbeing of future generations. Through compelling insights and rigorous analysis, A Global Shift to Gandhi challenges readers to rethink their role in shaping a sustainable future. This book is not just a reflection on the grim realities of our time, but a beacon of hope, urging individuals, policymakers, and global leaders to embrace a Gandhian approach to development—one that secures the future of our planet and all its inhabitants. Whether you are an environmentalist, a student of Gandhian philosophy, or simply someone concerned about the future of our world, this book offers an inspiring vision for how we, collectively, can steer our society toward a more sustainable and just future.Read more>>>
