At the POP Movement, we define Initiatives as those that are country-based, as they are more geographically representative. All POP Initiatives are supported by the POP Movement in the form of seed grants and mentorship. On the other hand, Projects are those conceived and led by youth leaders independently. These projects have been showcased at the POP Movement, and some of them receive mentorship and support.
It is important to note that there may be multiple POP Projects, but there is just one POP Initiative per country

In recent years, environmental values have tended to take more and more important in urban areas. The city of Dschang, of importance and of tourist and emblematic notoriety follows this environmental shift. The big challenge for the municipality of Dschang is to develop its own urban forestry program which includes the revegetation of the Signal Forest and the restoration of the degraded landscapes of the city’s hills. At the national level, a vast program of reforms integrating not only the aspects of sustainable management of natural resources, but also the issues of good governance and the fight against poverty are being implemented. The Cameroonian Municipalities acquire with the adoption of the new laws on decentralization of July 2004 (Law n°2004/017 of July 22, 2004 on the orientation of decentralization, law n°2004/018 of July 22, 2004 fixing the rules applicable to municipalities and Law No. 2004/019 setting the rules applicable to the regions), new powers; however, the means at their disposal remain limited.

Amid the climate and biodiversity crises, nature-based solutions are increasingly seen as important to reduce the impacts of climate change as well as to protect ecosystems and biodiversity. Tree planting is most definitely one of the nature-based solutions and that is why we at Plogging Nigeria Club UNN have embarked on Project Plant a tree, Plog a street. This tree planting project is a continuous project together with the university management and other local partners as we seek to plant 2000 trees by 2025 in order to green our campus, combat climate change and increase nature-based solutions. Over the past few months, Plogging Nigeria Club UNN has already planted 200 trees within the campus. To support Nature-based solutions, “project plant a tree, plog a street” was launched on June 5, 2021 in commemoration of World Environment Day 2021, and since then we’ve been able to
plant over 200 trees within the university community.

The project was carried out from June 10, 2022 to June 23, 2022. The project was part of POP Africa Fest 2022. The object of The Youth and Green Actions was to make a deliberate initiative to see to it that the Youths who are believed to be the owners of the future are included
and take a leading role in climate change mitigation and adaptation programmes in their communities. The essence was drawn from the fact that the Youth are probably the ones to feel the worst pains of climate change in the future and therefore, it is equally important to involve the vulnerable group [the Youth] in the solution equation in order to establish a sustainable change. The project had three main activities namely; Youth Climate Education, Tree planting exercise, Cooking and Nutrition Demonstrations. The participants in all the activities included representatives from various Youth Environment Clubs under senior Chief Mlomaba in Machinga District in Malawi.

Busia is an area where people get fruits from other districts yet there is a steady and ready market in Kenya. Planting fruit trees is one of the strongholds that most of the members can uphold. Many community members, schools and other partners in Busia have land that can support the project. This helps to combat quite a number of sdgs from no poverty, zero hunger, gender equality, partnership for the goals and climate action. The project aimed at promoting visibility and creating awareness on protecting and conserving the environment. School children and community members will actively participate in the exercise and be encouraged to nurture the trees for posterity. Different tree species were planted ranging from fruit trees to hard wood trees. Restoration tree planting in forests together with the surrounding community members will be part of the exercise. The farmers were trained on various aspects of sustainable farming, soil and water management, plastics and polythene management. The training had discussions, sharing experiences, demonstrations of skills and best practices and participation on the farm.

This project aims to reduce marine debris in coastal states in the South-western region of Nigeria through conversion of PET/plastic bottles to multipurpose plastic bins. These bins will then be placed at strategic locations for collecting more PET bottles and other single-use plastics, thereby reducing marine debris in Nigeria. Plastic bottles will first be collected at strategic locations, following which the bottles will be collated and organized. Then, iron frames will be constructed in various shapes. Finally, the PET bottles will be converted into plastic bins. Two prototypes that had been displayed during the contest had been produced from 116 PET bottles and had undergone durability testing.
