A group of professional divers consisting of professors and scientists from Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), Mexico and a lawyer recently joined the POP Movement to form "POP-IPN Divers". The group of POP-IPN Divers consists of 139 professional divers and trainers.

The POP-IPN Divers conducted a week-long conference on the implications of COVID-19 on diving practice, which was held from May 4-9, 2020. During the conference, the origin, causes, and risks of COVID-19 from a range of perspectives, including those of medicine, science, microbiology, waste management, law, administration, and neurolinguistic programming, were discussed. The conference which was called "Forum COVID-19: Its Relation with the Areas of Science and Diving in Mexico", engaged 531 divers, ocean enthusiasts, scientists, and businesses during the event.
