POP Youth Mentor
Youth Mentor at the POP (Protect Our Planet) Movement, Philo Magdalene’s work has been focussed on leading communication, writing and supporting program management. She supported the implementation of the Second World Sustainable Development Forum in Durango in March 2020 and co-led the documentation process. Philo Magdalene is also a Research Analyst, at the Center for Human Progress where she has been aiding the advancement of the living WHO Consolidated Guideline on Self-Care Interventions for Sexual and Reproductive Health through community-oriented research. Through CHP, she has aided the Country Offices of UNAIDS and WHO in leading report writing and documentation of conferences focused on Universal Health Coverage and Sustainable Development Goals. In 2020, she received the AIDS 2020 Scholarship award and was selected to be the International AIDS Society Youth Ambassador from India for 2020 International AIDS Conference (Virtual).
Philo recently graduated with a Masters degree in Literary and Cultural Studies from the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad. An avid learner, she is intent on understanding the interactions of development and environment and its implications on marginalization of different populations, through grassroots engagement and research. Through the POP Movement, she believes she has the opportunity to meet with and learn from youth and leaders from across the world leading extraordinary actions in their own spheres. Philo desires to grow amidst this collective consciousness and contribute towards building it into an impactful environmental movement.
