UNESCO Global Geoparks are single, unified geographical areas where sites and landscapes of international geological significance are managed with a holistic concept of protection, education and sustainable development. In this regard, the scope of the Tacaná Volcano Binational Geopark Project aligns with the objectives of sustainable development promoting sustainable development in the region around the Tacaná Volcano, affecting Mexico and Guatemala. It works toward a comprehensive risk reduction management program, actions against climate change, appropriation of the territory by young people, and inclusion of geo-education content in the region’s school curriculum.

This initiative seeks to publicize the potential of solar farms, recognize its efficacy and disseminate hard and substantial information about what solar farms are, their impact, their development and their way of implementation in different countries of the world. In agriculture, it seeks to encourage an alternative in relation to land, energy and electricity. A mailbox of initiatives will be developed with youth at a later stage to make a collaborative work group.

The hotels for bees are a structure like a drawer or shelf that allows to hold natural elements inside such as sticks, canes or logs, so that the insects have a place to nest or hibernate. This initiative seeks to create awareness about bees and the different models of hotels for bees, which can be from recyclable material with bottles and cardboard or a little more sophisticated with a wooden structure. The aim is to develop hotels for solitary bees with the purpose of conserving and preserving the different species of bees in the community.

This project works toward the development of an organic pesticide and promotes the use of organic products to reduce pollution in the state of Durango. It offers craft workshops and courses on pesticide poisoning and so on, and helps to raise awareness among youth and children by sharing knowledge on the importance of reducing environmental pollution. Furthermore, the aim of the project is to listen to diverse opinions and support the ideas of youth to protect the environment in Durango with small actions on the ground.

This educational workshop seeks to promote awareness on the importance of water by focussing on the Lake Cuitzeo basin through the game of “buckets and hoses” which is a type of snakes and ladders aimed at children. Through this workshop, students manage to retain and understand the consequences of poor water management in the basin. The game allows the participants to link with environmental problems, enabling a sense of awareness from a young age.

The project focuses on environmental education in Venezuela, through the POP Movement with young leaders by establishing alliances and developing projects. The project consists of carrying out various activities where, through the use of social networks, each member of the project gives a positive message and exercises their leadership over all the points of development of the SDGs. This includes Forochats, IG Lives, workshops, zoom meetings, etc.

Ecowarrior Kenya is a blog based on the real-life experiences of a Kenyan girl on a journey to fully transitioning to a green lifestyle, in the hopes of inspiring young people (the majority of her readers) to also follow this path. Taking advantage of the advancements of technology, she highlights the importance of taking a stance towards climate action with a specific focus on sustainable energy through social media. The initiative is currently working on a segment for children Mashujaa Wadogo (Swahili for Little Heroes). This is a curriculum that breaks down complex topics to elementary school children such as sustainable energy, extinction and pollution. The aim is to teach them early enough because the things we learn when young stay with us forever. These little heroes will hopefully choose better for our planet. Simultaneously, Eco-Warrior Kenya is on the drafting stage of a children’s book series on the same.

SDGs in Action! is a program initiated by an NGO Center for Environment Education Nepal (CEEN) in collaboration with Awarness360 and Eco-network. The main aim of the program is to teach school students to use theoretical and practical classes related to sustainable development goals and their targets. The program was mainly targeted at 5 schools located in Lalitpur. The virtual session of the program is open to everyone interested in learning about these global goals.

The working group on climate change is the project driven by young people with the Durban University of Technology in South Africa. The project aims to contribute to the minimization of climate issues affecting the earth through creating numerous environmental action activities. The group since the start of this year has worked so hard to ensure that climate action is undertaken.
