This Initiative is an opportunity to mark and celebrate World Ocean Day, amplify voices, and advocate for sustainable protection of marine biodiversity; reduction of plastic pollution; explore the interconnectedness between the health of the ocean and human health, especially drawing implications from the current pandemic; examine the issue of overfishing and sustainable tourism; and address ocean acidification and sea-level rise to name a few.
