BECOMING A LEADER: USING LEGAL AND INSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORKS TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL
‘Leaders’ come in many shapes and forms. The tools of social media, online forums, and instant global connectivity have made it possible for anyone to turn his or her passion into a large-scale movement. Anyone who takes the initiative, and stands up for what he or she believes in, and inspires others to act in support of furtherance of the ideas being espoused by him or her, becomes a 'leader'. This workshop will emphasise some of the key qualities that characterise an effective leader, and highlight the practices that make a social movement a success. Through focussed examples and case studies, the workshop will discuss how young and impassioned leaders are using the power of national and global legal and institutional frameworks to further the causes they espouse. It particularly seeks to provide participants in the workshop with a functional understanding of the international laws relevant to the issue of marine pollution and how these might be used to advantage to provide for a generic blueing of the global, regional and national economy.

YOGA WORKSHOP
The objective of this workshop is to introduce the concept of yoga mind through practices of yoga poses (Asanas) and breathing exercise (Pranayama). Through yoga practices, we start to realize the importance of self-compassion. Once we build a relationship of trust to ourselves, we can open up our mind and heart, and we can even care for others. I think the first step to achieve it is to know and care for ourselves. Yoga asanas and pranayama can be a good gateway. Eventually, we will know that all the learning and practices are connected to everything around us. Quoting Dr. Ramesh Bijlani, yoga is a way of life.
Proposed outcomes of the workshop:
- Mental aspect: To know how to treat the body and mind, and be aware of the importance of self-compassion: self-awareness & self-acceptance
- Physical aspect: To strengthen lower body muscles (Many people stay home during this pandemic and it deprives us of muscular strength. Weak leg muscles cause falls and blood flow stagnation. To prevent it, this workshop focuses on strengthening lower body muscles.)
