A Global, Virtual Music Concert Launch Event on 50 Years of Earth Day, April 22, 2020

Music is a universal language and powerful medium to connect people around the globe. It can stimulate a range of emotions including love and solidarity. We have witnessed this in the current global situation as people are finding ways to cope amidst trying times. Music relaxes the mind and gives hope as seen with Italian serenades and balcony concerts amidst the novel Coronavirus pandemic. The POP (Protect Our Planet) Movement also has tapped the potential of music by employing it as a powerful tool to connect with children, youth and adults and organizing live concerts, festivals, and events, to spread the message of a fair, conscious, and environmentally responsible society.

This year, April 22 will mark 50 years of Earth Day. To commemorate this important milestone, Climate Aid together with the POP Movement and the World Sustainable Development Forum (WSDF) will launch a global, virtual music concert to call on humanity to demonstrate the collective will and action urgently needed to protect human health and the health of our planet.

This event will bring together voices of artists from around the globe to amplify the message of solidarity with the audience. The renowned title ” by John Tibbs will be recreated while encouraging the audience to sing along and internalize the message. This celebration will be a prelude to Climate Aid, a global event which is expected to bring together citizens from across the planet in Gothenburg, Sweden in September 2020. The concert will feature a unison of voices of professional musicians, political and business leaders, youth, and civil society who will appeal to human love, compassion, and the union of minds and hearts to Protect Our Planet.
