Tree Planting at Kapwelyomba Primary School

November 16, 2022

Activity No 14

On November 16, Levy Nyirenda, a POP Youth Mentor, along with his team consisting of Philip Chilukusha, Lauren Kangwa, Bwanali Zimba, Blessingtone Lweendo, Ngosa Mando Mukpo, Bornwell Lungu, and Mapalo Banda, organized a tree planting event at Kapwelyomba Primary School. The aim of the event was to raise awareness and build the capacity of the 116 school students who participated. The event was organized in collaboration with the Needs for Orphans Foundation, United People Global, UN MGCY, and the Ministry of Education in Zambia.

During the event, the learners were provided with valuable re-education on the impact and consequences of climate change. They were encouraged to become individuals who leave a positive legacy at their school and were made aware of the significance of the tree-planting process.

The theme of the sessions revolved around Forest Restoration, with the objective of demonstrating the process of restoring forests. Alongside this, five trees were planted to actively contribute to the restoration efforts.

Overall, the event served as a platform to educate the students about climate change, empower them to make a difference and highlight the importance of forest restoration through the act of tree planting.
