Activity No 15

On January 19, 2023, Levy Nyirenda, together with Diana Twambo, Philip Chilukusha, Bwanali Zimba, Lauren Kangwa, Grace Mkandawire, and Ngosa Mukupo, visited Chelstone Secondary School. Their purpose was to conduct awareness and capacity-building sessions on tree plantations. The focus of the sessions was on ecosystem restoration, aiming to demonstrate practical applications of the knowledge shared during climate education sessions.

The primary objective of the sessions was to educate the participants about the impact and consequences of climate change while emphasizing the importance of tree plantation. The team successfully engaged 90 participants from the school, including both teachers and students, in this activity.

As a result of the sessions, a majority of the learners showed interest in joining the team and expressed a desire to learn more about climate change and its effects. Additionally, as a practical demonstration, the team planted five trees during the event to emphasize the significance of tree plantation in restoring ecosystems and mitigating the effects of climate change.
