Manica Youth Assembly (MAYA) in partnership with Protect Our Planet (POP) Zimbabwe has conducted School Educational Awareness at Zamba Primacy School under the #CatchThemYoung and launching of School Environmental Club on the 28th September, 2022. The awareness was to educate school children, local community leaders, and the community at large in Sakubva to take part in tree planting, nurturing, protecting, and ensure the wellbeing of communities for future generations to come, promoting stewardship is at the heart of our work.

Under the #CatchThemYoung Project, schools will come out with clubs where they protect the environment starting at school. The school environmental club should be seen as the driving force behind all environmental, sustainable activities at the school, and students behind the eco club. With environmental awareness the kids are able to help prevent massive destruction of the environment in Zimbabwe.

Outcome: Successful formation of clubs and tree planted

As a way forward, there is a need for support to start tree planting nurseries and continuous environmental activities which are sustainable and it is a wonderful way for the young people to develop a sense of ownership, school pride, adding to the community spirit.
