POPPix Shines at Cinema Planeta: 17th Edition

September 23, 2025 @ 12:00 am - September 27, 2025 @ 12:00 am

The 17th Edition of Cinema Planeta—Mexico’s premier environmental film festival—was held in Cuernavaca, Morelos, from September 23 to 27, 2025, following its tremendous success in Cuautla. This year, the festival brought together powerful environmental and social justice films from around the world, screened at Cinemex in Plaza Bugambilia, and featured the first international market of environmental films in Mexico — GreenMarketMX.

Audiences ranging from primary school students to senior citizens experienced a diverse range of films — from uplifting and heartwarming to thought-provoking and raw — each highlighting the importance of compassion, resilience, and collective care for our planet.

POPPix at Cinema Planeta

The POP Movement was thrilled to showcase POPPix at this inspiring event, reaching over 10,500 children! Through games, storytelling, and creativity, young audiences learned about nature, sustainability, and the power of collective action. The children’s excitement was contagious — many eagerly accepted the invitation to create their own stories, with the chance to turn them into books and animated episodes of POPPix!

The festival also offered pitching sessions for emerging filmmakers, masterclasses, conferences on sustainability in the film industry, and invaluable networking opportunities — nurturing the next generation of environmental storytellers.

The POP Movement extends heartfelt gratitude to Eleonora Isunza and the entire Cinema Planeta team for their incredible collaboration and for inspiring youth to take the lead in building a more sustainable world.

Stay tuned for the latest POPPix Books — creative, educational stories co-created by young changemakers around the world.
