POP Movement recognized by the G20’s Civil Society Group (C20) as best practice among Sustainable and Resilient Communities Initiatives

Thanks to the collective effort, leadership, and initiative of POP Youth Leaders and Mentors, the POP Movement has been recognized by the G20’s Civil Society Group (C20) as an Udharan or best practice among Sustainable and Resilient Communities (SRC) initiatives shortlisted from many submissions from around the world.Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (the university) School for Sustainable Development and the UNESCO Chair on Experiential Learning for Sustainable Innovation & Development at a two-day “Sustainable and Resilient Communities Conclave” in Sikkim, India, from April 29-30, 2023, in order to further the cause of joint collaborative projects, conduct research, and deploy grassroots solutions in and across the country as well as in other parts of the developing and underprivileged areas. The C20 working group on Sustainable and Resilient Communities – Climate, Environment and Net Zero Targets aims to provide a platform for policy-makers, experts, and civil society organizations to showcase best practices and engage in dialogues and deliberations for developing policy recommendations (as the G20 is being hosted by India this year) in the presence of diplomats and global leaders. This two-day conclave was graced by His Excellency Governor of Sikkim Shri. Lakshman Acharya, Honorable Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri. Prem Singh Tamang, the C20 Sherpa, Ambassador (and former Under-Secretary General of the United Nations) Shri. Vijay K. Nambiar, and the C20 Troika Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri.
