May 28, 2022
POP Senior Mentor Dr. Ash Pachauri delivered a virtual address at the business sustainability forum of Expo Fedecamaras Carabobo 2022
On May 28, 2022, at the Hesperia WTC Valencia Hotel in Venezuela, the Forum of Sustainable Businesses co-organized by the International Green Life Foundation (FUNFIVE, as shortened in Spanish) was held.
The forum was part of the corporate event “Expo Fedecámaras Carabobo 2022”, where 125 national companies participated, and consisted of a series of lectures by some representatives of these organizations who shared their concerns, proposals, and efforts in the face of the current climate crisis.
Described by the president of FUNVIVE, Dr. Manuel Díaz, as “a space to deepen in commerce from an environmental perspective”, it was attended by leaders from more than 15 organizations, among which were the Association of Executives of Carabobo State, the Holanda Venezuela Company, and the Technological University of the Center.
In addition, several international figures were present online, such as the co-founder and Senior Mentor of The POP (Protect Our Planet), Dr. Ash Pachauri, who highlighted the need to “see much more leadership emerge from the business side to take action for our planet” (United States), and the CEO of Onhoff Technologies & Solutions, Carlos Bustos, who pointed out the importance of achieving a responsible and inclusive digital transformation (Spain).
Other topics discussed included the commitment to the Climate Pact by the executive director of Integral Agency Adelante, Carmen Salzano, and the strategy undertaken by KMPG to reduce its carbon emissions by the managing partner of KMPG Venezuela, Ramón Ostos.
The event ended with an award ceremony for business sustainability in Carabobo, granted to Santa Rosa School, Ecovisión TV Channel, Cerámicas Carabobo, Holanda Venezuela, Hesperia WTC Valencia Hotel, and the Venezuelan Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Production (Fedecámaras) of Carabobo.
Likewise, the latter was the first and only national union to obtain the Eco Green Certification, an initiative of the Green Citizen Foundation and FUNVIVE that acknowledges corporate efforts to reduce environmental impacts.
