Activity 1 of Tree Plantation Initiative: Happy Mbewe, the representative of the POP Movement in Malawi, recently launched a new initiative in the country, as part of the Attenborough Forest project. The project’s latest milestone was the official unveiling of a community-driven afforestation and reforestation effort in the rural and indigenous community of Mataka, Malawi. This inclusive program brought together various stakeholders, including traditional leaders, faith leaders, youth representatives, women representatives, and grave custodians who hold significant influence in philanthropic activities within Malawian culture.

During the session, several important outcomes were achieved, including the official allocation of a forestation site and a nursery site. Additionally, key messages were prepared to communicate with their respective communities, and a detailed one-month work plan was established. This collaborative effort aims to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable forestry practices in Malawi’s Mataka community.
