Meetings in Montenegro
March 22, 2019
On Mar 22, 2019 a group of students closely interacted with the Chief Mentor in planning the activities of the University of Donja Gorica, Podgorica on the POP Movement. The students put forward the work that they are already undertaking in mapping the carbon footprint of the University and several efforts to minimize waste.
As part of the activities of the Centre for Climate Change Natural Resources and Energy (CCCNRE), Mr. Mahesh Ramanujam, President and CEO of the US Green Building Council (USGBC) was invited to UDG to address a group of students on the initiative of ensuring the sustainability of buildings in Montenegro by catalyzing resources at the CCCNRE. This would ensure efficient design of buildings in order to improve energy efficiency and cut down emissions of GHGs. Montenegro has a thriving tourism sector, and modifications are to be made in the country’s infrastructure and buildings with an improvement in energy efficiency and reduction in emissions of GHGS. Montenegro which has been designated officially by the government as an ecological society would be able to achieve a great deal in fulfilling these objectives. The POP Movement will collaborate with UDG in furthering these efforts and ensuring that buildings in Montenegro conform to the highest standards of energy efficiency and carbon neutral growth.
