Indigenous Leader from the POP Movement at the VI Meeting of the Council of Indigenous Ancestral Medicine originating from Abya Yala

November 12, 2023 - November 15, 2023

From November 12 to 15, 2023, Kasike Kalaan Nibonri Kaiman Robert Pairman of the Jamaican Hummingbird Taino tribe actively participated in the VI Meeting of the Consejo de Medicina Ancestral Indígena Originaria del Abya Yala (the Council of Indigenous Ancestral Medicine originating from Abya Yala), held in Tezontepec, Mexico. His participation was sponsored by the POP Movement and the Council On Native Caribbean Heritage (CONCH).

Kasike Kalaan, serving as the regional organizer of the Peace and Dignity Journey for Central America and the Caribbean region, played a crucial role during the meeting. The Council received support from the International Council of First Nations and Peace and Dignity Journeys.

The gathering brought together ancestral healers from across Abya Yala, fostering the exchange of knowledge, discussions on the state of ancestral medicine practices, joint ceremonies, and strategic planning for community well-being in Integrative, Intercultural, and Plurinational Health. Sacred ceremonies and invocations took place at sacred sites, including offerings to Sacred Mountain Xicuco, energetic cleansing in sacred waters, and healing practices.

The event also featured gatherings at Tula and a significant ceremony at the Temple of the Sun in Teotihuacan.
