Coffee Chats in the Big Apple to Start New York Climate Week 2023
September 17, 2023
In a joyful encounter on September 17, 2023, that started with a breakfast meeting in the city of New York, Dr. Norma Muñoz, Dr. Ash Pachauri, and Dr. Saroj Pachauri shared ideas on environmental advocacy with climate-action representative figures Adrián Fernández, Ana Hanhausen, and Prachi Shevgaonkar over cups of coffee.
The morning discussions with the Director of Iniciativa Climática de México (Mexico Climate Initiative), Dr. Adrián Fernández, revolved around the climate situation in Mexico and the absence of political will and leadership in addressing climate change. They emphasized the growing need for more committed leadership, both globally and on national and sub-national levels.
Later, with Ana and Prachi, the ambiance was nothing short of inspiring. The group talked about the great impact of women’s leadership, especially the young innovators in the world of climate action. Ana and Prachi, who are making meaningful impacts with their climate-focused apps, respectively, WIDU and Cool The Globe, highlighted the power of technology as a dynamic tool to mobilize the youth to tackle climate change.
The meet-ups were a heartwarming blend of coffee and optimism, underscoring the collective dedication to empowering the next generation of environmental leaders with boundless creativity.
