The commemorative event on 20th August, marking the 85th birth anniversary of Dr. R. K. Pachauri, began with heartfelt opening remarks by Dr. Ash Pachauri. Extending a warm welcome to all participants, he expressed deep gratitude to the members of the POP family and friends who joined from across the globe to honor Dr. Pachauri’s remarkable life and legacy.

Dr. Ash highlighted how this special occasion was not only a moment to celebrate Dr. Pachauri’s journey, but also an opportunity to reflect on the values he championed—youth empowerment, collective action, and a deep love for the POP Movement family that was always so close to his heart.

He emphasized Dr. Pachauri’s vision of mobilizing 1.8 billion young people worldwide, guided by knowledge and inspired to take meaningful action. As Dr. Ash noted, young people have the power to influence change and shape the future, and the POP Movement continues to carry forward this mission.

Today, POP has grown into a truly global family, reaching over 2.5 million young people across 130 countries. Dr. Ash also highlighted the extraordinary achievements of POP Stars, sharing that several of them will be recognized at the upcoming Maryland Expo Festival for their inspiring contributions.
