Purnima Burman
POP Trainee Mentor
Purnima Burman is finishing her second year at Delhi University where she is pursuing an economics major. She grew up in New Delhi while graduating from Delhi Public School in the year 2018. At school, she participated in various competitions. She was also very enthusiastic about basketball tournaments. She always balanced her athletic and academic field. She believes one should take every advantage of the opportunity as she strongly feels that “The comfort zone is a psychological state in which one feels familiar, safe, at ease, and secure. You never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone.”-by Roy T. Bennett, author of the book the light in the heart.
Sustainable actions generated her interest in Economics as she discovered that the world can do things alternatively without harming our earth. She desires to be professionally equipped with economics and the environment. Her spoken word poems articulate the emotion one is going through. She writes about how nobody can be perfect, how we all have our flaws yet how we all are beautiful in our own way, etc. Her recent poem delves into how we are deceived by our ancestors, how they left without decoding the climate issue, how they restrained themselves into telling us about it thinking it was for our own goodwill. She is an avid reader she has been reading from the age of seven. Pride and Prejudice is one of her favorites among the classics followed by To Kill a Mockingbird. Purnima explores different research articles to get relevant information inspiring the youth about various concerns of the health of our planet and disseminating it through social media of the POP Movement. The POP movement has helped her in realizing her core interest in climate and its effect on the planet and why we all should be concerned about the pressing environmental issues. The POP Movement provides a platform for many young advocates like her to raise their voices in order for the stakeholders and policymakers to take consideration of their opinion. Purnima aspires to grow and simultaneously contribute towards protecting the planet via THE POP MOVEMENT.
