From 08 to 18 June 2026, youth participants joined Sibonile Myambo in the construction of a nursery shed, taking another important step towards establishing a functional community tree nursery.

The activity provided young people with practical, hands-on experience in setting up a nursery unit. Participants learned about site preparation, nursery construction and the different materials and resources required to establish and maintain a functional nursery. Their involvement allowed the activity to go beyond construction, creating an opportunity for youth to develop practical skills that can support future environmental initiatives.

By the end of the activity, the nursery shed was largely completed, with only a few final touches remaining. The work was supported through local partnerships, including collaboration with local businesses for affordable transportation of nursery and soil propagation materials, while the participating preschool provided land for the nursery.

Aligned with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), the activity demonstrated how local collaboration and youth participation can come together to build the foundations for long-term environmental action.
