Identification of School Garden Project Beneficiaries and Participants

Mark Sara Koroma engaged over 12 school heads on the school garden project and requested school authorities to provide me with 100 beneficiary pupils from their respective schools to participate on the school garden project. The objective of the activity is to: 1) identify the 12 beneficiary schools, 2) engage school authorities on the climate initiative project, and 3) identify school garden project participants.
Martha Campbell, Co-Founder and CEO of Martico Feminist Organization was a key partner who spoke on girls’ inclusion in Climate Change initiatives and the School Garden Project.

Over 1500 participants, although we were targeting 100 per school, out of 12 schools visited and engaged
Impact: The Climate Education and School Garden Project has been recognised as a project that will sustainably complement the Government of Sierra Leone in its School Feeding Program, as it will tackle hunger in schools and alleviate poverty in our operational communities
Outcomes
- All 12 identified schools accepted and gave consent of willingness to fully participate in our project
- Schools authorities were given access to lands for farming and the project implementation
- Pupils identified ware overwhelmingly excited to take part in our climate initiative
- Community teachers present pledged their support to the school garden project as it will indirectly benefit them
