Ms. Taru Mehta
Ms Mehta is an Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) practitioner with more than 13 years of professional experience. She has her forte in programme management, capacity building and training programmes in the field for school and college students both urban and rural in the age bracket of 10 – 35 years. She has been instrumental in developing training modules on environment and sustainability, children’s workbook on waste management, IEC material and online MOOCs to reach out to the target group in domains of waste, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), climate change and energy. In TERI she has worked on several capacity building programmes, few noteworthy programmes are Project SEARCH- A TERI – Tetra Pak Initiative on waste management, Project Facilitating Learning on WASH (FLOW): A Bharti Infratel & TERI initiative and Strengthening water and sanitation in urban settings: A TERI – USAID programme. She is a lead author of two case studies on Project FLOW and Project SEARCH in a publication titled, “Multi-stakeholder approaches to Education for Sustainable Development in local communities- Towards Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Asia” jointly published by UNU-IAS and UNESCO Bangkok. Additionally she has also contributed to Environment Education Unit for the course Fundamentals of Environmental Science and Ecology for M.Sc. (Environmental Science) Programme of IGNOU.
She represents TERI at UNESCO’s Global Action Programme and is passionate about path breaking education and communication practices. She is a management professional from Institute of Rural Management and prior to TERI she has worked in Development Alternatives.
