It is often said that “youth are the leaders of the future” and today more than ever I can say that I disagree, they are not only that, they’re also the leaders of the present. (Could you put all their names and last names here please?) created The Carbon Footprint Reduction (CFR) Project, which is, in their words, “an independent, student-led initiative to develop climate research and solutions to reduce our impact”, and I have been amazed by witnessing their leadership in this field for quite some time now, their brilliant contributions and constant efforts have resulted in different projects and adiovisual production of the highest quality. But today, among all of their work, I want to share with you their latest initiative, the CFR Gameshow.

The idea behind the CFR Gameshow is simple, and yet so powerful. Their goal is to make social and environmental topics more interesting for youth by relating them with pop culture. For each program they made a deep research and developed a tall talk, a well documented introduction to the scientific evidence regarding the topic and connected it with pop culture to reflect on it under that light. After the tall talk they discussed, agreed and/or disagreed with the guests and made different dynamics to also engage with the audience, being the quizz its highlight!

From June 10th to June 25th, we were delighted to engage in their show and to compete in each of their 6 episodes with their corresponding expert guests:
• The One With Magic, with Prachi Shevgaonkar
• The One With Sci-Fi, with Haaziq Kazi
• The One With T-Rex, with Daniela Gómez and myself.
• The One With Disney, with Ana Hanhausen
• The One With Marvel, with Cherry Sung and Alexia Muñoz
• The One With Oceans, with Dr. Ash Pachauri

Each episode had it’s own kind of magic (maybe not as much as the first one), but the third one was particularly special to me because DINOSAURS! But besides that, I had the honor to share the room with Daniela and them, and it was so nice! We talked about extintion, bringing back species that have been gone for so long and the dangers of doing so, and the value of preserving the species with whom we share the planet today. Moreover, we engaged in a fossil auction (where I realized how easily I’d end up broke if I ever attend to a real one) and competed in the quizz, where Daniela and they beat me (and I was supposed to be an expert…) so we could say that I lost in that episode…but I didn’t. I had so much fun and enjoyed every minute of it! I could share my knowledge and learn from everyone, so I’d say the only way to loose is by missing their show.

I- OPERATION “BRUSH”: JUNE 11, 2022
Saturday, June 11, 2022, in the city of N’Djamena, municipality of the seventh arrondissement, Habéna district, square 13, a health activity was organized in this area. From 05 hours 45 minutes, it started in front of the front of the head of the square: Mr. DJEDOUBOUM ARISTIDE who himself went down to the field. This health day saw the participation of thirty four (34) young people, including two (2) girls, committed to carrying out this activity on an ongoing basis.

During this activity, we sorted the plastic waste and burned the household waste without forgetting to clean the water drainage channels which are thick with dirt.

It should be noted that these young people who have given themselves willingly for this work, have had to sensitize the inhabitants of its surroundings on environmental issues. These people aware of their situation, have given their agreement to associate with us each time we would like to organize these kinds of activities.

Nevertheless, we have encountered difficulties which are no more than difficulties of working materials.

After this striking act, the IYC Ambassador and participant in the POP 2022 Festival, Mr. ARISTIDE ON-KEBA YAGO DERING who initiated this activity congratulated the young people for their commitment, thanked them warmly.

Indeed, after these works were completed, all the young people as well as the young head of the square met with Mr. ARISTIDE ON-KEBA YAGO DERING where he gave them instructions and orientations in order to further promote their skills, because this is not more than volunteering. Also, Mr. ALLAHSSISSEM FABIEN sent a message of encouragement to the young people while drawing up an attendance list containing the names, first names and contacts of all the participants.

As a Climate Parent Fellow, I undertake several Environment and Climate related activities aimed at mobilising more Nigeria and African parents, young people and children to join the climate bubble, creating awareness, improving sustainable lifestyles, advocating for change and building partnerships and collaborations. In this project description I focus on the events of June the environment month and dovetail into the Plastic free Month of July.

This project is aiming at educating and promoting climate knowledge building in Learners. This is also demonstrating climatic solutions, in this project is the actual tree planting program in schools. Showing the learners, that we also practice what we do.

Awareness rising is an important component of the adaptation process to manage the impacts of climate change, enhance adaptive capacity, and reduce overall vulnerability. @E-WIN therefore organize sensitization program and clean-up exercise for young people in Nsukka zone as part of her 2022 POP AFRICA FEST, A POP Global Climate Crusade Event to empower them to be environmentally sensitive, engage in climate discuss and take climate actions.

Libraries contain information materials in diverse fields including climate change. These materials are used mostly by people who visit the library especially students. Unfortunately, Climate change affects everybody. As such, Climate change information should be made accessible to everybody, not just students. It is based on this that Literacy for Sustainable Living, an NGO set out to find out how libraries are making climate change information available to the general public.

Plastics make our environment to look nasty. Plastics impacts negatively on biodiversity both on land and on the sea. Children contribute to plastics in the environment in various ways. Plastics are used as wraps to children’s snacks, containers to soft drinks enjoyed by the children, ornaments on children’s hairs and as menstrual hygiene pads. This project aims to help children identify the various ways in which they contribute to plastic pollution in the environment and methods for reducing it.

In recent years, environmental values ​​have tended to take more and more important in urban areas. The city of Dschang, of importance and of tourist and emblematic notoriety, follows this environmental shift. The big challenge for the municipality of Dschang is to develop its own urban forestry program which includes the re-vegetation of the Signal forest and the restoration of the degraded landscapes of the city’s hills. At the national level, a vast program of reforms integrating not only the aspects of sustainable management of natural resources, but also the issues of good governance and the fight against poverty are being implemented. The Cameroonian municipalities acquire with the adoption of the new laws on decentralization of July 2004 (Law n°2004/017 of July 22, 2004 on the orientation of decentralization, law n°2004/018 of July 22, 2004 fixing the rules applicable to municipalities and Law No. 2004/019 setting the rules applicable to the regions), new powers; however, the means at their disposal remain limited.

Proyecto CLIMA is a public space for learning about climate change and its impact on the planet. It is a general and open reference, where FUNVIVE certifies people’s learning about climate change.

Through it, the foundation protects our planet with deeds, by permanently offering global means of learning about climate change. With Prueba CLIMA (CLIMATE Test), FUNVIVE opens certified learning opportunities to the world after the completion of the test. During the process, it helps to raise awareness about the impact that climate change has on the planet and its future as it allows you to check individual knowledge about climate change, and reflect on it.

The CLIMATE Test is the first step to obtaining the International Certification as a Green Citizen, which allows people to have greater personal and professional participation in today’s sustainable world.
