The UN-accredited POP Ocean Initiative, which was launched in 2020, aims to promote and mentor solutions focused on the ocean. During its first year, the initiative held twenty-eight sessions with participants from over 66 countries and had an outreach of over five thousand. Through 2021, the POP Ocean Initiative will continue raising awareness regarding the importance of the ocean and promoting solutions through collective action. Through the Youth-Led Ocean Action and Advocacy Workshop in 2020, POP Ocean was able to mentor and boost projects focused on ocean conservation and awareness created by 25 young leaders interested in creating positive change. Many of these projects went on to win awards during the POP Festival 2020.

Through the Waves of Change Camp, The POP Movement and Ervis Foundation aims to empower the youth to create successful and impactful solutions to the many issues currently faced by the ocean due to environmental degradation. The workshop will take place from April to October of 2021 and it will be composed of three phases: ocean literacy workshops, capacity building workshops, and project execution.
Through the Ocean Literacy Workshops (Phase 1), The POP Movement aims to increase knowledge about some of the most pressing issues in the ocean through a monthly one-hour workshop composed of a 30-minute presentation by an expert in the issue, followed by a 30-minute dialogue between the expert and the youth participants.
The Capacity Building Workshops (Phase 2) will focus on different skills that will allow the participants to better prepare their solutions and projects. The 2-hour interactive workshops will focus on different practical skills that participants may apply for phase 3.
The Project Execution phase (Phase 3) will focus on accompanying participants and they develop and execute their projects. This phase will be led by youth leaders and entrepreneurs with projects on their own, who can teach and empower the participants by their example.
The Waves of Change workshop will consist of three phases that will allow participants to learn about issues, prepare to tackle them, and develop projects and solutions.
Phase 1, which will focus on increasing ocean literacy, will consist of three hourly sessions on April 18th, May 9th, and May 30th, at 7:30 PM IST.
Phase 2 will focus on five capacity-building workshops which will take place every other week, starting on Sunday starting on June 27th at 7:00 PM IST.
Phase 3 will focus on project execution and it will consist of three sessions on September 19th, October 3rd, and October 24th at 7 PM IST.
