Daniela Gomez
(Mexico) |
Daniela recently graduated from Universidad de las Americas Puebla with an honors degree in Biology. She is a member of the Royal Society of Biology (RSB), and since 2015 she has been collaborating with leading non-profit organizations in nature conservancy, such as Amigos del Museo del Desierto, and Natura y Ecosistemas Mexicanos. The first focuses on educating people on the rich history and ecological importance of desertic ecosystems, while the second works hand-in-hand with local communities for the conservation of the Lacandona rainforest in Chiapas.
Although she has focused most of her work in terrestrial ecosystems, Daniela has a special interest in ocean conservancy. During an academic exchange to the University of Queensland, Australia, she learned about climate science and the huge role played by the oceans as climate buffers; which led her to become an ocean advocate, and to collaborate in mangrove reforestation programs in Veracruz and the POP Ocean initiative. The urgency of climate change motivated her to develop an inclusive solution based on the power of individual action, leading her to co-found theColorBook, a digital platform that aims to help people take climate action and reduce their ecological footprint by joining efforts with NGO’s and sustainable companies. |

Since I was 15, I started to assist research projects through environmental education programs aimed primarily for the non-scientific community's involvement in the archipelago's conservation; that's how I came to realize that everyone can be part of the solution, and the decision making process, in order to conserve and protect our planet. No matter how small an individual's contribution is, all of us together can drive change, locally and globally, towards environments' conservation. |

MARIANGELA MICHELLE LOZADA PINEDA Mariangela Michelle Lozada Pineda, 18 years old, born in Valencia, Carabobo state, Venezuela. Bachelor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, currently studying Social Communication at the Arturo Michelena University, I want to be a social communicator in a few years. Thanks to an activity carried out at my university, I had the great opportunity to join the POP Movement, I am really new to this movement, but I feel that in the short time that I have been within it I have learned many aspects or elements, which will serve and will be part of my personal and professional development. In such a way, the reason why I wanted to be part of this movement was not only because of the opportunities that they could offer me or the development that I would achieve, but also because it costs nothing to contribute or help the planet improve, it does not cost nothing to give that grain of sand and spread the voice of how serious our world is and shout the help it needs. For me it is very important to contribute in everything that is needed, since "it produces an immense sadness to think that nature speaks while humankind does not listen" Victor Hugo. For that reason, I want to have that voice that gives the strength it needs to this problem that affects us all equally. Additionally I am a dancer, I studied theater, voice over, I am a makeup artist, I really like talking to the camera and everything that has to do with film and television. “We all have the power to change our environment. It remains on our part to enforce the rights of the environment and solve all this problem ”Mariangela Lozada. |

Pueblo Nivacle / Nivacle People Originario de la comunidad Laguna Escalante, Boquerón Presidente Hayes/ Originally from the community Laguna Escalante Boquerón Presidente Hayes Actualmente estoy en el Departamento central/ Actually at Central Department I am from the Nivaclé people, originally from the Laguna Escalante community. I would like to explain a little about the work we have, I am a founding member of an organization that is the Indigenous Youth Union of Paraguay, where we seek to work with young people and make visible the different problems we have. One of the main objectives is to be able to recover and rescue the cultural theme for the new generations. As youth, we can also recognize and self-determine the cultural issue of our different peoples. If there is something I have to talk about, it is the indigenous art of all peoples and particularly of my people, and how it has evolved; today art became crafts, previously it was used daily for my people. “The Harmony Between the Earth and Man is known as Conservation. My Energy is and will continue to be the Essence of my Indigenous People and my Roots that give me the Strength to continue Fighting” |

Rodolfo Romero, Comunidad Jaguati, Pueblo Pai Tabyterā ,Departamento del Amambay.Paraguay
From the Pai Tavytera people, Jaguati community, of the Amambay Department in Paraguay, I would like to share with you about our culture, about the culture of the Pai peoples, we recently culminated with the baptism of children, culturally speaking, here we are always strengthening our culture, the culture of the Pai peoples. For more or less three years we have been strong in our culture again and after the arrival of the nuns who tried to end our culture and we resist. Now again all those in the community have left and we began to perform rituals again, the baptisms of the children and we began to strengthen ourselves again, we are going to continue stronger each time. For our community the environment must be conserved, luckily we do not have monocultures and we are always conserving our rivers, streams, our hills and forests. Always trying to conserve to strengthen our culture because we, the indigenous, have a close relationship with nature. We indigenous peoples are nothing without nature! |

Thanks to our grandparents, survivors of the genocide of the dictatorship, they always remained firm in our customs and our culture; Almost 80% of our culture, language and traditions were eliminated: today we are recovering them little by little thanks to the knowledge and what the elders of the Aché People transmit to us. And we, as new generations, fight to keep firm that spirit of the customs and culture of my Aché People |
