Youth-Led Projects

April 5, 2019

POP visited the Apodaca Campus of the Military School in Monterrey on April 5, 2019 to learn more about the climate-action projects being led by their students. Two groups of approximately 25 students each (mostly between the ages of 15-19) presented and discussed their POP activities and projects with the POP Movement, the Ministry of Sustainability, and their teachers. Their projects focus on collecting and recycling trash and building awareness about environmental issues among primary school students. They discussed their individual roles and how, when, and where they collect trash. They talked about how they mobilized their parents and communities in the process and shared samples of recycled products they have produced, including toys such as choppers and jets made with recycled icicle sticks. They intend to sell these products and raise funds to further their climate action work.

The teams also discussed their participation in the upcoming, Monterrey and Nuevo Vallarta festivals and discussed the possibility of mobilizing funds to support their engagement in the festivals through the proceeds from sales of their recycled products. Please support our students in Monterrey! To buy their recycled products and help them raise funds, please contact us at contact@thepopmovement.org
