World Youth Skills Day, observed annually on 15 July, celebrates the importance of equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to build more inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable societies. The 2026 theme, “Skills for a Shared Future,” highlights the vital role of leadership, collaboration, innovation, and lifelong learning in addressing today’s global challenges.

To commemorate the occasion, the POP Movement hosted a special Instagram Live panel discussion, “Youth at the Forefront,” bringing together young changemakers from around the world to explore how future-ready skills can empower youth to become leaders of positive change. The interactive conversation highlighted the importance of communication, digital literacy, climate action, collaboration, and community engagement in creating resilient and sustainable communities.

Across the POP Movement, these skills are being developed not only through discussions but also through action. Through country initiatives around the world, POP Initiative Mentors continue to strengthen their leadership, project management, teamwork, public engagement, and environmental advocacy by working directly with schools, communities, and local partners to implement climate and sustainability initiatives.

To celebrate this journey, the POP Movement released a special reel featuring several of its Initiative Mentors, who shared the skills they have gained through their experiences and how these opportunities are shaping them into confident leaders and changemakers. Their stories demonstrate that meaningful skills are developed through real-world action, collaboration, and service to communities.

Featured mentors include Symon Satiele, Edward Bethany Mhone, Kingsley Osajie, Adanze Christian Nzeako, Jean Félix Ebo’o, and Oluwatobiloba Ojuoluwa.

Through initiatives like these, the POP Movement continues to empower young people with the knowledge, confidence, and practical experience needed to build a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient future.
