Ploggers Nigeria and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka held a “Train The Trainers” program at the National Energy Research Center. The aim of the event was to build the capacity of E-WIN volunteers, both males and females, who would be trained on the objectives of the project to assist in driving it. The event had 26 participants, including 11 males and 15 females aged between 20-29 years. The panelists were Dr. Chiemezie Atama and Mr. Ayodeji Omilabu, who made presentations on Equity Watch Initiative and Ploggers Nigeria, respectively. The event increased the participants’ understanding of climate change and environmental sustainability, and their readiness to take climate action. The impact of the event was an increased awareness and understanding of climate change and environmental sustainability, a readiness and resolution to take the lead in climate actions, and an increased confidence among the participants that they have the capacity to lead in climate actions. The participants were mainly young people aged 20-29 years, and the event impacted SDG 4, 5, 12, and 13. The participants expressed a need for more training and involvement in climate actions to keep their interest alive, as this was their first time participating in a climate discussion.
