POP Senior Mentor joins the fifth session of the Blue Warriors Club

The Blue Warriors Club is an initiative by Ervis Foundation’s Blue Circle Group. The aim of the program is for the youth leaders to organize a club in their schools with a focus to engage and inspire their fellow schoolmates and together organize, lead and implement awareness and action programs within their schools and communities.
Presently, the club is being organized in the Fountainhead School, Surat, by youth leaders Preyasi Desai, Heer Desai and Aarav Bhansali.
In the fifth session of the Blue Warriors Club organized in the month of March, the club leaders of the Fountainhead School were joined by POP Senior Mentor Dr. Ash Pachauri, who shed light on the importance of policy making and implementation and the role the youth can play in amplifying their voices to influence key decisions. The presentation was followed by an enriching dialogue session.
The session concluded with the youth leaders ideating different policies they hoped could be implemented to tackle plastic. Some of the suggested policies included:
- Industries and businesses that generate plastic waste should take responsibility to reuse and recycle it.
- Mandate one day a week for clean-up and recycling of plastic by citizens
- Mandate schools to impart practical education on plastic waste.
- Distribution of reusable bags to shops at subsidized rates or for free.
