Dr. Ash Pachauri Addresses the 20th International Human Rights Summit

30 July 2026 - 01 August 2026

The POP Movement was honored to participate in the 20th International Human Rights Summit, 30th July – 1 August 2026, Education for Peace, where Dr. Ash Pachauri, Director and Co-Founder of the POP Movement, delivered a keynote address highlighting the growing connections between climate change, humanitarian crises, displacement, public health, and human rights.

Speaking before an international audience, Dr. Pachauri emphasized that climate change is far more than an environmental challenge, it is a humanitarian issue that disproportionately affects vulnerable communities around the world. He highlighted how the increasing frequency of extreme weather events, forced displacement, and climate-related health risks underscores the urgent need for equitable, compassionate, and collaborative solutions.

During his address, Dr. Pachauri stressed the importance of empowering young people, strengthening cross-sector partnerships, and translating knowledge into meaningful action. He noted that sustainable development, climate justice, and humanitarian response are deeply interconnected and must be advanced together to build resilient, peaceful, and inclusive societies.

The Summit provided an important platform for global dialogue, bringing together leaders, educators, policymakers, and advocates committed to advancing human rights, peace, and sustainable development. The POP Movement was proud to contribute to these discussions and reaffirm its commitment to empowering young people as catalysts for positive change.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Pachauri shared a powerful message that resonated throughout the Summit:

“Peace is not inherited. Peace is education.”

Through its continued engagement in international forums, the POP Movement remains committed to promoting education, youth leadership, human rights, and climate action as essential pillars of a more just, peaceful, and sustainable future.
