The activity involved the presence of Director of School Feeding, Deputy Director of Education Bombali District, Representative of the Resident Minister North,  and Environmental Protection Agency District Coordinator.

Type of participants: Government Officials and Community Stakeholders

Number of participants: 30

The objective of this stakeholder engagement on climate education and the implementation of POP Sierra Leone Climate Change Initiative are: 1) to raise awareness on climate change problems; 2) to leverage their support to our climate initiative; and 3) to provide them with insight on the school garden project.

The outcomes of this activity are:

  1. Created an indelible awareness on the issues of climate change and the importance of school garden initiative in schools within Bombali District.
  2. Created willingness amongst stakeholders to partner with the project team to advocate with government and other organizations to support the school garden project as it could complement Government’s School Garden Programme.

Conclusion:

This stakeholders engagement which is part of the POP Sierra Leone Climate Initiative project activities, created awareness amongst Stakeholders and our project community. The School Garden Project has now been identified as a project that would sustainably complement the Government of Sierra Leone in its School Feeding Program, as it will tackle hunger in schools and alleviate poverty in our operational communities.
