On June 4 and 5, 2020, to mark World Environment Day, the Second World Citizenship Congress was organized by Fundación Ambiental Internacional Vida Verde (Funvive) in partnership with the POP Movement, bringing together different stakeholders in society. With a vision to strengthen the culture of environmental awareness and promote green citizenship that is humanistic and in harmony with other living beings and the environment, the Congress sought to inspire public and private organizations, local, national and international institutions towards a paradigm shift in the existing pattern of production processes and consumption behaviors, among others.

The congress hosted a memorial service for POP Chief Mentor, Late Dr. Pachauri, with the conference being organized in his great honor. The POP Movement also provided the opening address and a presentation on the engagement of youth to Protect Our Planet in a COVID-19 world. During the event, at a side meeting, POP engaged with rural, indigenous, and tribal communities from Latin America and the Caribbean regions in a session titled, “Indigenous Youth Climate Action in Latin America”.

The virtual congress had 20 plenary presentations over the course of two days, having the participation of around 1000 individuals from 40 institutions and 30 countries.
