Among the many crowning achievements of the POP Team in Germany headed by students from the school, Julius-Stursberg-Gymnasium, the recent accomplishment has been the installation of solar panels on the school roof. The team from this municipal school had connected with a representative from the ENNI, one of the largest energy and water suppliers in the Lower Rhine region of Germany, and developed an idea of installing a photovoltaic system on the school roof. With the roof being rented to the energy company, the electricity produced will not be directly utilized by the school but instead will be fed into the local power grid. This green electricity has been made possible due to the tiring efforts of POP Germany who managed to propel the initiative by overcoming delays caused by several obstacles and logistical difficulties.

The project will face completion next year with the installation of 760 photovoltaic panels having a projected output of 212 kilowatt-peak.
