The Baku Forum, Azerbaijan

The Chief Mentor participated in the VII Baku Forum organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, Baku during the period 14 to 16 March 2019. At the Forum a panel discussion was held which had the following participants,
- Moderator: Harold Varmus, Nobel Prize recipient in the field of Physiology or Medicine, former Director of National Cancer Institute and National Institutes of Health
- James Bolger, Prime Minister of New Zealand 1990-1997
- Margaret Catley-Carlson, President of the Canadian International Development Agency 1983-89; Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF 1981-1983
- Emil Constantinescu, President of Romania 1996-2000
- Djoomart Otorbaev, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan 2014-2015
- Ismail Serageldin, Vice President of the World Bank 1992-2000, Co-Chair of NGIC
Dr. Pachauri presented the critical needs of Foreign Policy in the future which corrects the distortions existing today, deals with existing risks from climate change in the future and ensures collective action on the part of nation states and other stakeholders.
On March the 17th a special meeting was organized in Baku by the World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS) which focused on Global Leadership in the 21st century, wherein the Chief Mentor highlighted the need for grassroots efforts led particularly by the youth of the world. This meeting was organized to discuss a project on global leadership being implemented by WAAS essentially to revive and develop different types of leadership to address existing and future global challenges. On March 20, 2019 the Chief Mentor also participated in a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the WAAS in Dubrovnik.
