Day 2: Linking Climate Change and Public Health

October 21, 2025

Day 2 of the 15th National Congress on Climate Change Research brought a powerful continuation of dialogue and discovery — exploring how climate change is transforming our environment, from extreme weather events and river system disruptions to the fishing industry, beach erosion, mangrove degradation, and innovative conservation solutions.

It featured Dr. Saroj Pachauri (MD, PhD, DPH) representing the POP Movement in a session on the acclaimed Climate and Health book series. She shared insights into the global collaboration that produced these volumes, bringing together experts and youth voices to generate evidence-based solutions.

Her presentation underscored the rise of zoonotic and fungal infections, growing water scarcity, and the threat to pollinators, while also highlighting findings from POP Movement research on Sargassum. Dr. Pachauri concluded by inviting collaboration for the next volume of the series.
