Third Edition of the Climate Quiz Competition among Secondary Schools

On July 18, 2022, the Third Edition of the Climate Quiz Competition was organized in collaboration with The Edo State Ministry of Environment and Sustainability and the POP Movement. The event was held at John Odigie-Oyegun Training Institute. Five schools have participated: Western Boys High School, Niger College, Edo College, Ugiomo Senior Secondary School, and Evbareke Secondary School.
The commissioner, Edo State Ministry of Environment and Sustainability, Engr. Jonathan Lawani, and his aides joined to grace the occasion. A representative of the POP movement, Mr. Samuel C. Okorie was also present.
The commissioner admonished the students to make use of the opportunity they have, and become warriors at the forefront of fighting environmental issues.
Mr Sam talked about the Climate Change Summit, an interview with Rep Samuel Onuigbo on the Climate Act and how it could help Nigeria to achieve NetZero.
About the Quiz:
In the first round, each school was asked to answer seven questions with a time limit of 30 seconds. The lowest scoring schools were eliminated. Of seven, four schools moved to the next round and the process was repeated till there were 3 finalists. Edo College emerged winners, with Niger College and Ugiomo Senior Secondary School receiving 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.
The winners of this round received an opportunity to represent Edo State at the Regional level.
