April 24, 2022
On April 24, 2022, POP Youth Mentors Drishya Pathak, Komal Mittal, and Manish Gupta were invited by The Energy and Resource Institute to participate in a special interactive session with H.E. Ms. Ursula Von Der Leyen, President of the European Commission, on her visit to India.
Organized at TERI Gram, Gurgaon, Haryana, the interactive session for youth sought to enhance their understanding of global negotiations on climate change issues, and capacitate them with confidence to engage with an eminent global leader working on sustainability. The youth participating in the discussion were selected from a large group of participants in the annual Youth Climate Conclave, which is organized annually under the Strategic Partnership for Implementation of the Paris Agreement (SPIPA) project by TERI, GIZ India, CEEW, and the EU Delegation to India.
Speaking about the importance of joining forces to address climate change and biodiversity loss and encouraging innovation and youth leadership, the President said, “Young people have fully understood the urgency of the climate crisis. And they are doing something about it. From living more sustainable lifestyles to making their voices heard on the street and advocating for greener policies, young people are at the heart of the solution. So make your voices heard.“
Following the discussion with the youth, the President planted a sapling at the TERI Gram campus and visited the TERI-Deakin Nano-Biotechnology Centre. “
