The POP Nigeria Initiative on Climate Education organized a two-day virtual training workshop titled Green Economy Transition in Nigeria cum Africa on July 13 and 14, 2021.

The virtual training was part of the process to tackle the dangers of climate change, and to activate youth as climate actors, leaders and advocates in various communities across Nigeria and ultimately, Africa at large. This initiative attempts to promote sustainable environmental practices and livelihoods, while advocating for low carbon options and responsible production by companies and industries, through education, advocacy, and meaningful stakeholder engagement.

The program attempted to provide education about green economy transition in Nigeria, and was specifically aimed at training group members in the state of Edo on waste disposal, waste-sorting, cleanups, planting economic plants and green walks to reduce carbon footprint. The workshop was also aimed at businesses and industries, National Youth Service Corp members, secondary schools, farmers, community groups, and the general public.
